Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory
Dolan DNA Learning Center
-- A product of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, the Dolan DNA Learning Center is the world's
first science museum and educational facility promoting DNA literacy. The center's mission is to
prepare students and families to thrive in the gene age through education, hands-on
experimentation, and access to information.
Partners for the
Future -- The Partners for the Future program, established in 1990, brings Long Island
high school students into Cold Spring Harbor laboratories and gives them a taste of the real
world of biomedical research. The program is open to all Long Island high school students
entering their senior year.

Long Island Group
Advancing Science Education (LIGASE) -- Affiliated with the Deparment of Biochemistry and Cell Biology
at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, LIGASE provides opportunities in
biotechnology for all who wish to learn, including programs for middle and high schoolers.
Biotechnology Teaching Center -- The
Biotechnology Teaching Center offers laboratories that introduce students to molecular biology,
biotechnology and forensics. These laboratories are designed to give the students a strong
hands-on, inquiry based laboratory experience.
Science Exploration Camp -- The academic programs of Science Exploration
Camp complement the students' science curriculum at school and challenge them to think, research
and experiment. Each program will be laboratory- based, but will involve reading, computer
searching, writing and group work.
Main
Street Science -- Main Street Science is a learning collaboratorium that serves the needs of
the K-12 community and advances the science literacy of the general public through the development
of hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities. Main Street Science is
a product of the Cornell University Nanobiotechnology Center.
New York Academy of Sciences
(NYAS) -- Since 1817, the New York Academy of Sciences has been bringing
together scientists of different disciplines from around the world. Their purpose is to advance
the understanding of science, technology, and medicine, and to stimulate new ways to think about
how their research is applied in society and the world.
New York BioHistory -- Learn about
significant milestones in the historical development of New York's biotechnology &
medical technology industry.
New York Hall of Science -- The New
York Hall of Science is New York City’s only hands-on science and technology center. The Hall
features more than 400 hands-on exhibits and the Pfizer Foundation Biochemistry Discovery Lab.
New York Parent Teachers Association (PTA)
-- The New York PTA's mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in
the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make
decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and
protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of
this nation.
New York Public Library
-- The New York Public Library is one of the great knowledge institutions of the world, its
myriad collections ranking with those of the British Library, the Library of Congress, and the
Bibliothèque nationale de France. Virtually all of the Library's many collections and services
are freely available to all comers.
New York State Science Honor Society
-- The first statewide science honor society in the United States, the STANYS-supported New York
State Science Honor Society's purpose is to encourage an interest and understanding of science
and science-related careers, as well as to recognize the academic achievement in science of high
school students.
New York State Science Olympiad
-- The Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the
quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition
for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are
accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of
intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments.
Sciencenter -- The Sciencenter is a
hands-on museum located in the city of Ithaca, NY. The center seeks to inspire people of all ages
and backgrounds to discover the excitement of science through exhibits and programs that promote
learning through interaction.
Science Teachers Association of New York State
(STANYS) -- The Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS) promotes excellence
in science education. Its mission is to work with educators and communities to provide
opportunities for all students to participate in and learn science.
Summer Research
Program for Science Teachers -- The primary aim of the Program is to provide New York
metropolitan area middle and high school science teachers with sustained hands-on experience in
scientific research so they can better understand the practice of science, and better transmit to
their students and fellow teachers a feeling for its practice.
