The Hematology Medical Affairs Franchise Leader at Seattle Genetics will function as a scientific and medical expert, setting the medical affairs direction and strategy for hematology programs while providing medical affairs input into the development pipeline. This role will be the external face to the hematology community for Medical Affairs and Seattle Genetics, engaging with top international scientific thought leaders, professional societies, cooperative groups, NCI/CTEP, and Hematology/Oncology networks. When appropriate, this position may also engage with regulatory health authorities, policy makers and advocacy groups. Furthermore, this position will liaise with commercial counterparts to ensure near term and long range medical and commercial strategies are synchronized to maximize the success of the late stage pipeline and marketed products. This position will also provide Medical Affairs strategic input into the development and regulatory strategies for the early phase pipeline, and collaborate with development to identify research opportunities while engaging with external experts.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead execution of a customer centric, evidence based, scientific medical affairs strategy for late stage molecules and marketed products in the Seattle Genetics pipeline.
- Work with the Senior Medical Directors and cross functional leaders to serve on project teams as the Medical Affairs representative and medical expert.
- Collaborate with the field medical liaison team and support the needs of the external scientific community to address healthcare provider questions.
- Serve on Global Project Teams for Hematology products as Medical Affairs representative and medical expert.
- Collaborate with the global product team, Medical Affairs, and field Medical to align on the strategy and scope of the Investigator Sponsored Trial efforts.
- Strong leadership presence and the ability to work effectively with other external and internal clinical and scientific experts at Seattle Genetics.
- Help identify and effectively interact with key thought leaders to engage in scientific and medical exchange to meet the needs of hematology-oncology patients and advance the field of study.
- Serve as the medical affairs hematology expert on lifecycle strategy efforts, including IST strategy development and execution of corporate-sponsored Phase 4 studies.

- Assure appropriate close coordination with executive Global Commercial and Marketing leaders to support their teams’ efforts, including medical expert support of product launches.
- Close coordination with Clinical and Translational Medicine teams on strategic priorities and of evidence generation to support the hematology pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree with hematology-oncology background (ideally ABIM-certified) strongly preferred; PharmD or PhD with extensive hematology-oncology experience considered.
- Recognized leader within the hematology community.
- Medical Affairs and or clinical development experience in the bio-pharmaceutical industry or other relevant industry.
- Strong leadership presence and the ability to work effectively with other clinical and scientific leaders.
- Demonstrated passion for helping patients with cancer and for the science of hematology and oncology.
- Collaborative style both internally with other company leadership, but also with external thought leaders, medical professionals, and partners.
- A team player; works well in a team environment as both a leader and a contributor.
- Open, engaging and transparent; comfortable with conflict and able to push back when needed.
- Global perspective and mindset; ability to work effectively with colleagues from myriad cultures, backgrounds and geographies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable outstanding external scientific engagement; demonstrated ability to effectively address the needs of the scientific and non-scientific community.
- Extensive experience and strong understanding of hematology-oncology drug development.
- Ability to think strategically.
- Collaborative mindset and a proven track record of working effectively in diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines.
