Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join the Biomarkers and Bioinformatics group at Seagen to contribute to the development of innovative drug candidates for treating cancer. This group is within the Translational Sciences department and as a member, you will be part of a skilled group leading the mechanistic understanding of novel therapeutics and patient selection strategies using clinical study data from active and historical drug trials. A successful candidate will have demonstrated technical proficiency with data science and data engineering methods and possess the scientific creativity and curiosity necessary to engage meaningfully with the biology underlying our drug development efforts. This is a role that will encourage independent thought while collaborating across multiple functions on teams that span from clinical development to early research. This position has the option of being based in our Seattle or South San Francisco offices as well as working remotely.

Responsibilities:

This position will involve cross-functional teamwork to provide analysis for ongoing clinical trials while also using our historical data as well as public datasets to accelerate future drug development at Seagen.

  • Collaborate with biomarker scientists and research teams to analyze clinical and biomarker data to support clinical development decision making
  • Effectively communicate analysis results to Translational Sciences teams
  • Streamline and automate data processing for biomarker analyses where appropriate
  • Utilize classical statistical approaches as well as data science-based methods to help us better predict patient populations most likely to benefit from novel drug therapies

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in bioinformatics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a biomedical discipline, and 2+ years of post-graduate experience
  • Solid knowledge of relevant mathematics and statistical methods for the purposes of data analysis within the R environment
  • Specific understanding of concepts and methods surrounding multiple comparisons problems, power analysis and survival analysis
  • Familiarity with standard coding best practices and source code control
  • Excellent listening, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in bioinformatics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a biomedical discipline, and 5+ years of post-graduate experience
  • Proficiency in R library/package development
  • Experience with scientific computing and general software development with Python
  • Direct experience with 1 or more of the following fields/techniques: molecular biology, immunology, cancer biology, next-generation sequencing, flow cytometry, or image analysis
  • Prior experience with clinical trial data and familiarity with general clinical trial design principles
  • Experience with cloud computing environments

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field; or Associate’s degree +2 years of relevant experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
