Summary

The role of the Platform Product Manager of our self-service data platform is to build the enterprise foundational data capabilities to develop and execute against Seagen’s long-term strategy in support of business innovation across Seagen’s end-to-end value chain. This role will develop industry-best self-service data platform capabilities to support federated data governance, data product delivery, data quality, security and privacy by design, data lineage, data discovery, transformations, integration, and analysis – all to maximize the value Seagen receives from its data-related efforts. Examples of some of the cloud-based, self-service data capabilities include graph databases, data lakes, MLOps, data science workbench, master data management, and self-service reporting capabilities.

The Platform Product Manager will work closely with the Director of Data and AI Product Strategy and other DSS&S leaders to support our mission and deliver business value through data. They will collaborate with engineering and cross-functional leadership teams to build, manage, and implement data capabilities to empower data product delivery across Seagen.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with DSS&S leadership and other stakeholders to define the vision and strategy for the self-service data platform including a product roadmap and 3-year strategy
  • Provide capabilities for self-servicing data platform and enable Data Scientists and Analysts in developing new models and reports
  • Review the product roadmap with key stakeholders
  • Determine product priorities, including new features and defect fixes
  • Lead the delivery of new product features including creation of release documentation, workshops, and providing operational support during launches
  • Translate epics into stories to enable development teams to understand scope; understand technical implications of features and how to break down into user stories.
  • Outline clear acceptance criteria, to clearly communicate the definition of ready/done.
  • Model business value streams relevant to the product
  • Manage agile sprint ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
  • Act as the evangelist and coach across the organization for platform adoption and continuous improvement
  • Provide thought leadership and enable enterprise-wide adoption of our platform
  • Support the adoption and evolution to Data Mesh Architecture across Seagen
  • Promote innovation culture across the platform team; bring curiosity about industry trends and best practices and encourage others to do so as well
  • Orchestrate collaboration across the team and with other product owners by removing roadblocks and fostering communication
  • Advocate and evangelize agile, lean, and continuous delivery best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to design, configure, engineer, integrate, implement data mesh related capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully with cross-functional teams to deliver software
  • Strong facilitation, prioritization, and influencing skills
  • Strong communication skills, listens and shares information; orchestrate collaboration by removing roadblocks and fostering communication
  • Experience in (one of) DevOps, Application Modernization, Platform Engineering or Developer Experience
  • Experience prioritizing competing demands and obtaining buy-in from stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict with stakeholders
  • Ability to see and clearly communicate the big picture of our platform to delivery and stakeholder teams to understand cross-functional inter-dependencies and impact
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and explain issues from both a technical and a business functional point of view
  • Openness to contradictory opinions and flexibility in your thinking
  • A willingness to jump into projects and complex environments to make sense of ambiguous details in multiple domains
  • In-depth knowledge & extensive experience working with Scrum and agile methodologies; hands-on experience in using Azure DevOps or Jira to plan and execute sprints
  • Strong understanding of data engineering, ETL, data lake and data warehouse concepts
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platform (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS) technology and services
  • Understanding of advanced analytics workflows like building and deploying machine learning models, natural language processing, statistical modeling, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience with DevSecOps
  • Understanding and experience with automated testing
  • Understanding and experience with Infrastructure as code, policy as code, compliance as code is a plus
  • Able to able to learn and adopt newer approaches as the business environment shifts or as the technology landscape evolves
  • Must be well versed in versioning strategies

Education:

  • Graduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, Data Science, or related field.
